PlayStation 5 emulator KyTyPS5 continues to develop at such a fast pace that it’s hard to take what’s going on seriously. In just a few days, Demon’s Souls Remastered went from 2 FPS at launch to a relatively stable 30 FPS. This isn’t some old game, but one of the most beautiful PS5 exclusives.
Until recently (four days ago actually), the Bluepoint Games project was still running at about 2 FPS in the emulator. The developers then improved the results to 10-18 FPS in just three days, and now the new version is capable of 30 FPS. Of course, there’s no sign of stabilization here yet – a lot of microstuttering and other issues are very noticeable, but the rapid improvement in performance is definitely impressive.
To be fair, it’s worth noting that KyTyPS5 isn’t quite an emulator in the usual sense. The software works through relays, similar to Valve’s Proton on Linux. This all comes down to the fact that the PS5 is actually a regular PC, so the developers of the “emulator” need to set up valid relays, and then the trick is done.
