The developers of inZOI life simulator have revealed details of the new RP mode Canvastown, which a small studio team is creating in parallel with the main game. It combines multi-user spaces, user scenarios and MyHome functionality. The developers prepared the first demo of the project for the TapTap Game Fest event to be held in Shanghai on September 12th and 13th.
Canvastown is intended to be a place for role-playing stories, rather than a traditional game with clear goals and endings. Users will be able to enter pre-prepared scenes through AR companies, select specific characters, and role-play various scenarios. In a separate online area, approximately 50 people will be able to communicate and interact in a single channel.
Zoya’s character will play an important role. Their behavior will depend on the role they are assigned, and players will be able to act as a director, assigning roles and shaping their own story. To restore the scene, script modifications are planned. With their help, the team has created small mini-games, including racing. The authors admit that such entertainment cannot replace full-fledged racing projects, but in the future they hope to move individual mini-games from Canvastown to the main inZOI.
Hyunjun “Kjun” Kim, one of the developers of the mode, compared the concept to the movie Ready Player One. He believes that Canvastown should give players the opportunity to temporarily escape from daily life, participate in unusual situations, and live a different life in the world of inZOI. The main focus is on communication, coexistence and unpredictable social interactions.
Developers warn Canvastown is not yet proposing to build a full-fledged city from scratch or pave roads. These features have been discussed by players on the Internet, but the current version does not have these features. In the future, the team plans to expand the tools for decorating cities and editing landscapes.
For now, Canvastown remains a side project while the core team at inZOI continues to develop the core life simulation. Kim admitted that the current construction of the model is far from ready, and its future fate will depend on user response. A full release date has not yet been announced.
