PUBG Madison Studio, formed by veterans of the original Battle Royale development (map authors Miramar, Sanhok, and Deston), has launched a new project, PUBG: DED.NET, which was created over the course of approximately two and a half years under the leadership of creative director Dave Curd.
The game is designed to appeal to an audience not interested in classic PUBG, offering faster gameplay rather than casual, and focusing on a unique progression system.
The new game will be based on the Roguelite mechanic: through a series of matches, players gain abilities from their decks, consume their entire life total, and suffer damage that affects future battles (while passages between matches can be paused). There will be nine story characters to choose from in the closed beta, and the choice of character has nothing to do with combat skills. Separately, Curd commented on the topic of artificial intelligence, noting that the generation tool was used only as a temporary placeholder for the poster, which was completely replaced by artist Brian Pelletier’s handiwork in the final version.
