Dutch startup Axelera AI declare About Europa product shipments have begun – a dedicated next-generation artificial intelligence chip (AI processing unit, AIPU). They mainly focus on performing inference with high energy efficiency.
First-hand information about Europa solutions Appeared Last October. The chip design includes 8 AI cores, 16 RISC-V architecture vector cores, a 256-bit LPDDR5 interface with 200 GB/s bandwidth and 128 MB L2 SRAM. The claimed INT8 computing performance reaches 629 TOPS. Samsung 5nm technology is used in production.
Customers can purchase Europa chips to design their own AI accelerators. Additionally, these products are available as part of the Axelera Edge 232p HHHL PCIe card with 1 AIPU and the Axelera Server 250p FHFL card with 4 AIPU. These devices can be installed in servers and workstations.

According to Axelera AI, Europa-based solutions provide six times more performance (tokens per second) per watt of energy consumed than GPU-based accelerators. The new cards can be used not only as part of data centers and cloud platforms, but also in peripheral devices and enterprise sites.
The Axelera Edge 232p accelerator will be available as part of Dell XE5 and Supermicro 111AD servers. In addition, 2CRSi, Advantech, Axiomtek, HPE, Lenovo, Seco and other companies have also announced support for Europa. Axelera AI products have been deployed by more than 600 customers worldwide, including those in the defense, robotics, drone, retail and security sectors. The startup’s total order book is worth more than $1.5 billion.
