Although the popularity of electric vehicles in Russia has surged in the short term due to objective and well-known reasons, in fact the share of electric vehicles in the civilian passenger car field is still not negligible, but it is not statistically significant. However, development of charging infrastructure continues, with the hope that one day the number of electric vehicles will increase to economically viable levels.

Therefore, the press service of the Rostec state company report The company’s subsidiary Radio Electronic Technologies (KRET) has installed 270 charging stations of different types and power levels in 30 regions of Russia.
Rostec did not specify in which specific regions the majority of the charging stations it produces are located, but based on a similar announcement from Rosatom yesterday (the company competes with Rostec in this area), it is logical to assume that these regions are Moscow, St. Petersburg and other high-income cities with a population of more than one million.
It should be understood that even taking into account subsidies, the popularity of electric vehicles in Russia is hindered by their high cost and the climate that is unsuitable for electric vehicles in most areas. Plans to increase the number of electric vehicles in the country cannot even be implemented in theory without significant cost reductions.
