The developers of World of Warcraft have released a detailed preview of the old dungeons featured in the Midnight expansion Season 3. The team’s main goals are to take into account community feedback, fix annoying mechanics from previous seasons, improve pacing and update the visuals of abilities. These changes will affect bosses and common enemies throughout the rotation of returning Mythic Keystones.
Midnight Dungeon changes:
- Messala Caves: The buffs in the starting area will be changed to provide players with new options. The battle between Murokin and Nekrax will be redesigned to make the core mechanics clearer.
- Magister’s Terrace: The developers will update the activity in the library and add new paths and books. The fight against Degentrius will also change. Additionally, some old enemies will be replaced by brand new creatures in the two current dungeons.
Classic dungeon changes:
- Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr: Developers listened to complaints about dungeon length. The number of bosses will be reduced from five to four, and the fight against the Lost Dwarves will be completely disabled. Boss Tleron’s Purifying Fire phase will now trigger when health reaches a certain percentage rather than on an energy timer, which will speed up combat at high critical levels.
- Steel Docks: The Undercity is undergoing a major modernization. All four bosses will receive updated abilities. The iron stars will remain and players will still be able to “bowl”, but the delivery will not be so reliant on them.
- Stone Core: Classic dungeons in Cataclysm will receive complete visual and mechanical upgrades with updated enemy models. At the same time, the developers promised to preserve iconic moments – the chase with the manastorm of Milhouse and the famous Ozruk.
- Bloody Catacombs: To make gameplay more readable, the team will be reducing the number of casters in groups and reducing the number of skills that need to be interrupted.
- Underrot: New route options will appear in the final section. There will be less emphasis on constant knockdown spells during the fight against Elder Lixxar, and the Kro’Gros mechanic will force players to move more aggressively throughout the arena.
Ultimately, Blizzard notes that the provided list is just a starting point. Plans may be adjusted during the PTR server test, and players will be able to try out new items before the official start of Season 3.
