Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will begin with a full-scale North Korean invasion of South Korea, while John Price evades his pursuers. Ahead of launch, the developers took a look back at how the story got to this point.
In the first modern war, Price and his future comrades face Katara, General Barkov, and chemical weapons. After the events in Urchikstan, Task Force 141 was formed, consisting of Gaz, Soap and Ghost. However, in Modern Warfare II, the squad became involved in the aftermath of General Shepard’s covert operation: stolen American missiles ended up in the hands of Vladimir Makarov, and Shadow Company betrayed the 141st.
In Modern Warfare III, Makarov turns to a larger plan and seeks to destabilize the West. His surgery resulted in Thorpe’s death, after which Price decided to deal with Shepard himself. He kills the general, but at the same time finds himself outlawed and begins hunting Makarov on his own.
“Modern Warfare 4” starts from this moment. In the campaign, players will experience battles in Korea, New York and Paris, night operations in Mumbai and large-scale battles to capture the city. Price will have to operate outside official institutions and forge questionable alliances as he pursues a weapon that could alter the balance of power. The launch will take place on October 23rd, and owners of Standard Digital Edition and Vault Edition digital pre-orders will be able to participate in the event on October 16th.
