“We are in talks with Apple about the possibility of connecting 5G to iPhone”– sources quoted the minister as saying.
Let us remind you that last week the first fifth-generation communications network began operating in Russia. At the time, the Ministry of Digital Development noted that in the near future, only owners of Android devices that support the technology would be able to use 5G. It is worth noting that whether the iPhone can use 5G networks depends on Apple’s decision.
Currently, Apple has not included 5G among the functions supported by Russian telecom operators. After Russia tests how its smartphones work on 5G networks, manufacturers can add or update carrier configurations. Currently, 5G networks are operating in 16 cities in Russia and can be used by approximately 10 million users. In addition, 5G will also be launched in 50 other cities across the country before the end of this year.
