Build A Rocket Boy, the studio behind MindsEye, appears to be shutting down for good, more than a year after releasing a disastrous version of its flagship project.
Former employees began publicly confirming the layoffs on social media, and human resources officials said they were helping to “work through” the remaining cases, which pointed directly toward liquidation rather than layoffs.
The studio’s downfall also came amid a series of high-profile scandals, including union lawsuits over poor working conditions. While co-founders Leslie Benzies and Mark Gerhard blamed the game’s failure on “internal saboteurs” and customized reviews, the reality proved to be much harsher for rank-and-file employees.
