Andrzej Sapkowski is preparing to return to the world again “wizard”. The author confirmed that he’s already working on a new book set in the Geralt of Rivia universe, and during a recent meeting with fans, he first outlined a rough timeframe for completing the work. If the authors’ plans do not change, the manuscript should be completed by the end of 2027.
Sapkovsky spoke about this at a conference in Toruń as part of the Copernicus Festival. Information about his statement was disseminated by Polish Fan Resource wizard landlater confirmed by multiple local gaming and cultural publications. At the same time, the author himself emphasizes the conventions of the specified period: we are talking specifically about a theoretical project, which may change in the future.
Therefore, it is not possible to talk about the specific release date of the next book yet. Sapkovsky plans to complete work on the work by the end of 2027, after which the publisher still needs to prepare the book for publication and translate it into other languages. Therefore, the earliest release target could be considered is 2028, although there is no official premiere date yet.
This is particularly interesting news for fans of The Witcher, since until recently Sapkovsky’s return to the series seemed like an event in the distant future. The author’s last book, “Crow’s Crossing”released in 2024, serves as a prequel to the main saga. In the book, the author takes readers into Geralt’s youth, showing the first few years of his career as a witcher. Sapkovsky himself previously explained that after completing the main story, he decided to explore the hero’s past rather than continue the events of the saga.
At the same time, judging from the author’s latest statement, the new book will become the next independent work about the Witcher universe. There are currently no details about its plot: it is unknown whether the story will be dedicated to Geralt again, whether familiar characters will return and in what time period the events will take place. The author himself has not revealed the title of the future book.
The previous literary work “The Witcher” became Sapkovsky’s first new novel in a long time. The Raven’s Crossing will be released in Poland at the end of 2024 and will be published internationally in 2025. Publisher Hachette describes it as a stand-alone novel in the Witcher universe, and has released an English version and multiple other translations simultaneously.
Now fans can only wait for Sapkovsky to return to his famous universe. If the author does finish the manuscript on time, a new book about The Witcher could be available as early as 2028. For now, though, these are only the most obvious guidelines: the exact publication date, title, and content of the work have yet to be officially revealed.
