Enthusiasts can run DLSS 5 Neural Rendering on the integrated Intel Arc 140V graphics card and do not require an NVIDIA graphics card, CUDA or NGX libraries. The experimental project runs on a Lunar Lake processor under Linux and uses the functions of the Xe2 architecture through Vulkan.
The developers actually re-implemented the computational part of Neural Rendering and moved it to the Intel XMX Matrix Unit. For this purpose, using the VK_KHR_cooperative_matrix extension, the frame processing is directly connected to the image output time via Vulkan. Thanks to this approach, the technology can be used with games that use Vulkan, including through Proton.

The quizzes were taken on Dead or Alive 5 Last Round, Tekken 7, and Mortal Kombat 1. However, there is no need to talk about actual performance – at 1280×720 resolution, the speed is only 3-5 FPS. In Tekken 7 at 640×360, we managed to get about 10.5 FPS. Processing a frame in Full HD can take hundreds of milliseconds, and the calculation requires about 2.3 GB of memory.
