The fiberglass sculpture is approximately 2.7 meters high and was originally located in London Camden Market “Tomb Raider: Live Experience” performance. After the event in 2023, the works were removed and put into storage.

The initiative for the recycling series came from Luke Earle, collector and organizer of the QUAD annual series in Derby. Commenting on the results, Luke Earle said: “We have had a huge amount of interest and an incredible amount of donations from fans around the world and we are very grateful to the city council for providing a final donation to ensure we achieve our target.” Earle went on to add: “Derby has a lot to gain By displaying the statue publicly in the city center, residents and visitors will be able to see it. Her fans will be delighted to hear the fundraiser was a success and I’m sure many of them are already planning to come to Derby to see her. “
The city’s culture and tourism councilor also highlighted the importance of the project, recalling how Derby named a street after an archaeologist: “Lara Croft embodies Derbyshire’s pioneering spirit and the creative talent that puts our cities on the global game map. Tomb Raider grew from a small local studio to a global phenomenon, spawning three hit films and establishing a lasting cultural legacy. We are delighted to welcome her back to Derby Market Hall to celebrate her 30th anniversary. This statue will pay homage to our heritage and will inspire future game designers and creative pioneers in Derby. “
