GeForce RTX 5080 owners had to replace their graphics cards after unsuccessful experiments with the DLSS 5 neural filter. A Reddit user nicknamed wax469 installed an unofficial modified version on his system to run “Neural Rendering” in GTA 5 using an MSI RTX 5080 Ventus 3X. Everything worked fine at first – the game produced around 80 FPS at maximum settings, but then the screen suddenly froze and started crashing and flickering. After restarting, the computer is no longer able to use the graphics card properly.
The user himself claims that the modified version of GTA 5 with LSPDFR works fine without DLSS 5. He eventually requested a replacement card and, remarkably, received a new video card a few weeks later. After that, the RTX 5080 functioned normally, but the owner decided not to try DLSS 5 again.
The exact cause of the failure has not yet been determined. Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that the additional load may cause damage to the RTX 5080, but this has not been confirmed yet.

There is currently no reason to expect parts prices to drop. Acer CEO Jason Chen believes that the memory shortage is no longer serious, but the cost of parts will continue to rise, and the market will not begin to stabilize until at least mid-2027.
