Polish development studio Rebel Wolves is preparing to release the first full update for its dark fantasy role-playing game Blood of the Dawnwalker. As game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz confirmed in an interview, the patch scheduled for release in early October will primarily respond to player feedback and significantly modify many mechanics. Core innovations include the implementation of an additional, extremely accessible difficulty level for story purists, as well as fundamental adjustments to auto-targeting of enemy groups and escape mechanics when defeat is imminent.
With the launch of the new difficulty level, the development team is responding to feedback from players, for whom even the previous story mode provided too many gameplay hurdles during combat. The new levels are clearly aimed at users who want to experience the dark narrative set in the fictional Sangora Valley without facing intense conflict.
This reorganization changes the previous name: the previous story mode was renamed to the higher difficulties, so the game will now include a total of five difficulty levels from extremely easy to the relentless duelist mode.
Another focus of the upcoming patch is an overhaul of the combat system and freedom of movement. The developers are correcting a controversial aiming feature where target acquisition automatically switched to another opponent after a stun attack. Tomaszkiewicz admitted that parts of the community found the design disruptive, and announced that players will retain control over unconscious targets in the future.
At the same time, resolving combat will also be optimized: when retreating, characters will ignore strict environmental paths, which prevents getting stuck on geometric objects and makes escaping from superior forces smoother.
Additionally, the studio promises to continue optimizing frame rates and stability across various system configurations. While decisions to modify individual mechanics are made at short notice based on fan feedback, this update underscores Rebel Wolves’ claim to continue improving the role-playing game even after successful sales.
According to studio management, initial considerations for more content such as a new game plus mode or new enemy variants are already in the evaluation phase.
