Sin City’s beaches may be one of the most iconic locations grand theft auto 6while demonstrating the capabilities of Rockstar’s new engine. Since the game’s first footage, developers have often used coastlines to showcase large numbers of NPCs, but behind the impressive graphics lurk more serious changes. In a new section of Grand Theft Auto rock star Aiming to make the world’s inhabitants more diverse, not only visually, but also in terms of their behavior and interaction with the environment.
The beach is an ideal place to showcase the system. Unlike many other areas of the city, it is naturally home to a large and diverse mix of people: tourists, locals, vacationers, athletes and random passers-by. So Jason or Lucia walking along the coast might find dozens or even hundreds of characters that are different from each other but go their own way.

One of the major changes compared to previous games is the physical diversity of NPCs. Rockstar is moving away from a situation where large crowds of passers-by are essentially created from a limited set of models wearing different outfits and faces. In Grand Theft Auto 6, characters will have significantly different heights, body shapes, and body proportions. This should make crowd scenes less monotonous.
Rockstar is already here Red Dead Redemption 2but GTA 6 should go further. In older games, technical limitations forced developers to control the number and variety of characters in the world more tightly at the same time. Now, Rockstar has more modern technology that allows you to create more complex groups of NPCs without feeling like the same models keep popping up in front of players.
chapter northern rock star Rob Nelson previously compared the concept of GTA 6 to Red Dead Redemption 2. According to him, the developers want the exploration of the world itself to be the source of unexpected situations. Players don’t have to constantly follow quests, markers, and other clues: if you just look carefully around you, the environment itself can provide a reason to stop and observe what’s going on.

That’s why the beach is more than just a beautiful backdrop. When Jason or Lucia walk on the beach, swim, drive along the coast, or get into their car, dozens of little events happen around them. At this moment, one NPC might be relaxing on the beach, another might be walking by the water, a third might be interacting with friends, and a fourth might be walking to his car. Moreover, the characters do not have to be identical in appearance and physical parameters.
Diversity doesn’t just apply to body type. An area of the beach may have people of different ages, heights, faces, hairstyles, clothing and overall proportions at the same time. So even a large group of people shouldn’t look like a bunch of the same characters, just wearing different T-shirts or shorts.
What’s particularly interesting is how such a system can be combined with everyday animations. Not only is the appearance of the NPC important, but also the way the character interacts with the space. Different body proportions must be taken into account when moving, getting into a car, interacting with others, and performing various activities on the beach. As a result, Rockstar was able to not only create a visually diverse crowd, but also create a more compelling sense of realism, with everyone doing something different.

The company has described GTA 6’s world as the largest, deepest, most populated and complex in the series’ history. However, its scale is not necessarily best shown by map size or distance between cities. Sometimes the most mundane walk along the coast can seem more enlightening, during which the player can simply stop and observe what is going on.
In this case, Vice City’s beaches will serve as a showcase for GTA 6’s technology. With a large number of unique NPCs, differences in appearance and physique, rich activities and spontaneous interactions, even an ordinary walk can become an entertainment. If Rockstar really sticks to it, the main impression of the beach might not be the size of the ocean, sand, or coastline, but the sheer number of people, each looking and acting slightly different.
