Starry Studio has announced the release date for its biggest update since the launch of multiplayer survival simulator Once Human. The naval expansion pack titled “Abyssal Islands” will be released simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and mobile devices on October 22, 2026. On the same day, all versions will receive cross-platform multiplayer and cross-progression support.
“Island of the Abyss” will expand the world of “Once Human” through five sea areas and new survival mechanisms. Ships will be added to the game and players will be able to build, customize and improve their own ships. Small ships can gradually transform into full-fledged mobile sea fortresses, complete with living quarters, workshops and heavy weapons.
The sailing portion of the game will involve exploration and diving. Survival will be divided into three interrelated areas: traverse the ocean surface, explore islands, and dive for resources and treasure. The material collected will be used for further development of characters and ships, forming a unified progression system between land and sea. The ocean itself will be more than just a new frontier to explore. According to the expansion’s plot, an ancient entity called the Sunken Lord awakens underwater, turning the ocean itself into a threat.
In the trailer, the mysterious navigator Mara warns players of six rules of survival associated with the unusual dangers of the new region. There are references to marauding lighthouses and islands, which may actually be living creatures. The five sea areas will also have different conditions and threats, forcing players to consider the environment when traveling.
