Digital Extremes has released a major update for third-person looter shooter Warframe, Narin’s Ice Blade. A new storyline takes players back to the wreckage of Zariman’s ship to tell the forgotten story of Narin. This is the prelude to a larger story that will unfold in future games.
Narin himself becomes the new playable Warframe. The heroine has enhanced mobility and fights with the help of the legendary ice blade. She is able to create a volley of phantom swords that freeze opponents, fly into the air on crane-shaped wings, and crash to the ground in an icy blast. Another ability drains frost from enemies and restores shields, and in a special ice dance, Narin glides across the battlefield, raining down hail on marked enemies.
Players will be able to return to the top of Yuvan, where a new social area appears. Here you can meet Cephalon Melika, explore new items and try to uncover the secrets of the snow. New Entropic Eximus opponents appear on the derelict Zariman ship, and some missions can now randomly encounter Melika’s lab.
This update also redesigns the Banshee’s abilities. Her skill set has been overhauled to make her damage output easier and more consistent. Before October 7th, players who log into the game on any platform will receive free Banshee Warframe and Form resources.
“Before heading off to Tau, it’s so nostalgic to return to some of the most iconic locations in Warframe. Our fall update is a bit like a return of old content, with new ideas to suit the changing interests of our community. We’re honored to see this diverse community as excited as we are to relive moments and places in Warframe history and eager to see them in new ways, but what never happened,” said Community Director Megan Everett.
The Narin Ice Blade update also includes new cosmetic items. These include the Banshee premium Threnody skin, created from a concept by community artist Mischka, and the Corvex Basilica skin, developed in partnership with Sumo Digital. New TennoGen items created by community members have also been added to the game, including a tiara, cape, and Citrina’s alternate helmet.
