In anticipation of its release on October 7, 2026, reporters got to try out the Star Wars: Galaxy Racer competition from studio Fuse Games and publisher Secret Mode and spoke with its creators.
The game takes players into an era after the fall of the Empire, where the Jedi and the Force have been replaced by the brutal underground world of sport – the Galactic Alliance. The story centers on a mercenary nicknamed “Shade” who must fight his way to the top through a series of deadly runs.
Gameplay combines the dynamics of classic arcade racing games such as Burnout and elements of modern Roguelight (inspired by things like Hades and slay the tower). Each playthrough of the campaign offers branching maps of events, random upgrades, and the need to make strategic decisions.
At the same time, the variety of equipment is impressive: from easy-to-control land crafts to extremely fast but fragile little racing cars that require precision. The developers have also confirmed a well-thought-out multiplayer game, with a betting system that allows those who are inferior to their opponents in sheer speed to compete on equal terms.
