Xiaomi has launched the Mi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max smartphones in China. Both devices feature the latest flagship Qualcomm processors, two 200-megapixel Leica cameras, large batteries, an improved main screen with privacy features, and an additional display on the rear panel.

The devices are based on Qualcomm’s latest 2nm processors. The Xiaomi Mi 18 Pro model is equipped with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip, and the Xiaomi Mi 18 Pro Max model is equipped with Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. The main cores of both processors can operate at frequencies up to 5 GHz. The main difference between these chips is artificial intelligence performance. Extreme models have higher values. Both smartphones use the same three-camera system from Leica: a primary 200-megapixel Light Fusion 960L sensor (1/1.28-inch size, f/1.67 optics) with LOFIC and OIS technology; a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle OV51D card module; and a 10,026-inch standard 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. The latter features an optical stabilization system (OIS), f/2.4 optics, a focal length of 75mm, offers 3.2x optical zoom, and, as mentioned, 12.8x zoom without losing quality. This telephoto lens also features a floating lens design divided into two groups, allowing you to focus on subjects as close as 12 centimeters for macro photography. According to Xiaomi, the Pro Max’s telephoto lens captures 83% more light than its predecessor, which should improve the quality of low-light portraits and long-distance shots.
The rear camera island, under a solid transparent glass panel, houses a secondary OLED display with a diagonal of 2.86 inches, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, AI support, and a neural network-generated application card. Next to it is a customizable button with AI capabilities. Both smartphones support UWB technology (for more accurate positioning), feature ultrasonic fingerprint scanners, and meet IP66, IP68, and IP69 standard protection. Xiaomi also installed a larger linear vibration motor in the new product to improve tactile feedback. The 18 Pro Max version is equipped with a three-speaker audio system.
The Pro model comes with a 7000 mAh battery and the Pro Max comes with an 8500 mAh battery. Both devices support 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. However, for the global version of the device, these numbers may be lower.
Xiaomi Mi 18 Pro is equipped with a 6.4-inch display with a resolution of 2436 x 1120 pixels, and Xiaomi Mi 18 Pro Max is equipped with a 6.9-inch display with a resolution of 2624 x 1208 pixels. Both use flat OLED panels (LTPO Super Pixel 2.0 RGB) with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 4000 cd/m22PWM brightness control, frequency 2160Hz, BT.2020 color gamut. The screen is protected by Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0 and supports Xiaomi’s proprietary hardware technology to protect image privacy. The use of LIPO assembly technology reduces the frame around the main and secondary displays to 0.99 mm. Xiaomi also launched a “satellite” version of its smartphone with a transparent back panel, continuing the design of the 2020 Mi 10 ultra-transparent version.
The Xiaomi Mi 18 Pro starts at 5,999 yuan (about $895), and the Xiaomi Mi 18 Pro Max starts at 6,999 yuan (about $1,045). Other configuration prices are as follows:

- Xiaomi Mi 18 Pro with 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage – 6,999 yuan (approximately $1,045);
- Xiaomi Mi 18 Pro with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage – 7,999 yuan (approx. $1,193);
- Xiaomi Mi 18 Pro with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage – 8,999 yuan (approx. $1,343);
- Mi 18 Pro with transparent panel (16 GB/1 TB) – 9,999 yuan (approx. $1,492);
- Xiaomi Mi 18 Pro Max with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage – 6,999 yuan (approximately $1,045);
- Xiaomi Mi 18 Pro Max with 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage – 7,999 yuan (approx. $1,193);
- Xiaomi Mi 18 Pro Max with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage – 8,999 yuan (approx. $1,343);
- Xiaomi Mi 18 Pro Max with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage – 9,999 yuan (approx. $1,492);
- Xiaomi Mi 18 Pro Max with transparent panel (16 GB/1 TB) – 10,999 yuan (approx. $1,641).
In China, Xiaomi Mi 18 Pro series of smartphones have been pre-ordered on Xiaomi’s official store, and interested buyers can place orders before they go on sale. The devices will be available in Galaxy Blue, Ice Peach Pink, White, and Black.
While Xiaomi is the first to use the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor, the Motorola Signature 27 smartphone will be the first device in the global market to feature an extreme version of the chip when it launches in the US in November. Xiaomi said that the 18 Pro series will be launched to global users later this year, but did not disclose specific markets or release dates.
