The developers of Euro Truck Simulator 2 have revealed details about the production of Ghost of Anatolia, showing how much work goes behind the usual results. There will be more than a hundred major transport hubs in the new area alone.
Pavel, a map designer specializing in roads and highways, has been working on the DLC road network for about two years. For each complex intersection, he first created a separate prototype on a test map, manually selecting the number of lanes and road configuration. It then checks the turning radius, section length, bridge height, slope and other parameters. The goal was to keep the design as close to the real thing as possible, but at the same time keep it driver-friendly and compact.
Prefabs are another story. Before creating new elements, the team first checked whether existing solutions could be used. If there was no suitable option, Pavel assembled the prototype, calculated the geometry, prepared drawings with markings and artificial traffic routes, and passed the specifications to his colleagues. Once created, the element is returned for validation before being sent to the card.
In the finale, designers will work on traffic lights, details, and other small details. But most of all, he’s looking forward to the moment players see the new ending. Among the main attractions, Soul of Anatolia has not only roads but also carefully designed landscapes and iconic locations.
