On September 29, the base version of The Witcher 3 will be updated to a remastered version on Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC. The CD Projekt RED studio gave reporters the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the game in advance, and now many game videos have appeared on the Internet. The first resolution and frame rate tests for The Witcher 3 Remastered on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S have also been released.
The Witcher 3 Remastered on Xbox Series X
On the Xbox Series X console in The Witcher 3 Remastered, players can use 2 graphics modes:
- “Quality”. Upscaled resolution is 1800p, original resolution range is 1152p to 1800p. The main feature of this mode is ray tracing, which is not available when Performance Priority is selected. The project runs at 30 frames per second in this mode, which is quite stable.
- “Performance”. The upscaled resolution is 1800p, while the original resolution is 1080p to 1800p. Average native resolution is lower compared to quality mode. The game always supports 60 FPS.
The Witcher 3 Remastered on Xbox Series S
Just like on older consoles, on Xbox Series S players can choose from The Witcher 3 Remastered mode:
- “Quality”. Resolution upscaled to 1440p, original resolution range from 864p to 1440p. In this mode, the game runs stably at 30FPS without frame loss.
- “Performance”. The upscaled resolution is 1440p, while the original resolution is 900p to 1080p. 60 FPS remains almost the same, but in big cities the number drops to closer to 50 FPS. Note that in the next-gen version of The Witcher 3, the Xbox Series S experiences more severe frame drops in performance-first mode.
Previously, CD Projekt RED clarified the specific release time of The Witcher 3 Remastered and the scale of the update for Xbox Series X | S. Note that the game will also receive Play Anywhere support.
