Naughty Dog has dashed fan expectations with a new statement on its official website, announcing that the highly anticipated sci-fi game Star Wars: Oracle of Heretic will not receive any updates or trailers until the end of 2026. This ultimately buried any hopes players had of seeing new material on the project at the awards ceremony. The Game Awards 2026.
As game director Neil Druckmann explained, the team decided to go completely silent for the rest of the year in order to devote the most time to creating the biggest project in the studio’s history. Another factor was the desire to separate marketing efforts from Sony’s internal studios so as not to compete with upcoming releases God of War: Laufey.
Let us remind you that a month ago the developers reported the successful completion of filming of all story and cinematic scenes. Although by the standards of Naughty Dog’s past plans, this hints at a possible release in 2027, the studio has yet to hold a full gameplay demo. It’s now expected that the game’s next official appearance should come no sooner than the first State of Play demo early next year.
