Nothing, a Sino-British joint venture, released its first full-size headphones last summer, priced at $299. More than a year later, the company launched their “pro” versions: they cost $100 more, but they have higher-quality sound, more effective noise cancellation, studio-grade settings, and an aluminum body.

Nothing Headphones(1) Pro It comes with ten microphones, compared to six on the previous model. The manufacturer changed the position of the microphone and improved the design of the ear pads, thereby improving the perceived quality of ambient noise and the effectiveness of the active noise cancellation system. Compared to the base model, the Nothing Headphone(1) Pro’s external noise reduction level is improved by an average of 5 dB, and the system’s usable frequency range is expanded by 40%. The manufacturer paid special attention to sound quality: the single 40 mm dynamic driver was replaced by a three-driver architecture. One dynamic driver for low frequencies, one for mid frequencies and xMEMS high frequencies. The woofer delivers clear, distortion-free sound at high volumes, the midrange driver helps eliminate unwanted resonances, and xMEMS is designed to make instruments sound more detailed and natural, closer to how they would be perceived in reality.

The Nothing Headphone (1) Pro has a 1060 mAh battery that lasts for 30 hours with active noise cancellation enabled and 68 hours without active noise cancellation. The new headphones aren’t as good as their predecessors in this regard, but they provide up to two hours of playback time (noise-cancelling on) or four hours (noise-cancelling off) on a five-minute charge. In addition to improved hardware, there are also new software solutions. A number of audio features were developed in partnership with London’s Metropolis Studios, including a Flat EQ mode switch, a new Dynamic Spatial Audio mode – five profiles supporting head tracking, and the ability to customize the equalizer.

Supports Bluetooth 6.1, Auracast technology, simultaneous connection of two devices, Google Quick Pair, LDAC codec and high-resolution audio formats for wired and wireless connections. Traditionally, the strength of Nothing products has been design. Headphones(1) Pro are made of aluminum, titanium and glass. The frame of the device is made of aluminum to improve the tactile feel when using the headphones; the cup holder is made of titanium to provide structural strength while keeping the weight low; the outside of the cup is made of scratch-resistant Panda glass (hardness 9H), allowing part of the “inside” to be seen. The headband is wider and thicker, and the ear pads are softer, which should mean a more comfortable fit. The Nothing Headphone (1) Pro has a suggested retail price of $399.
