Microsoft has officially announced the mythical achievement that has been rumored for the past few weeks. Starting today, they will be available as part of the firmware to Alpha Skip-Ahead level insiders.
- Mythic achievements are earned by completing all achievements in a specific game release. Achievements added later via DLC or updates are not required to obtain Mythic achievements.
- There are no player points for Mythic achievements.
- Mythic achievements received will be saved permanently and will not be reset after new additional achievements are released.
- The system takes into account the user’s history. This mythical achievement may have appeared in previously fully completed projects, including Xbox 360 games.
- There’s a new tab in your Xbox profile that lets you view achievements, completed projects, and progress toward your next Gamerscore badge. Users can browse these tabs of their friends to see what projects they have completed to achieve mythical achievements.
- Mythic achievements are highlighted with a special frame in the achievement history to easily distinguish them from other achievements.
- The achievement list now has a new progress bar that shows how close the user is to achieving the Mythic achievement.
- Achievements added after release are marked as “Additional” so they can be easily distinguished from those that count toward Mythic achievements.
Microsoft said “Mythic Achievements” is one of the most requested features by players. There is currently no timetable for when it will be available to all users.
