Paralympics Productions, the team behind the native port of Grand Theft Auto V for Android, has announced that it will cease development following a legal challenge from Take-Two Interactive. The project was originally planned for a public release in the near future, but now the team will finally shut down on October 3rd.
This port was not created based on Winlator or another compatibility layer – the developers implemented a full boot of GTA V directly on ARM devices. Previously, the team had shown off an unofficial version of the original Nintendo Switch game. For Android, the minimum requirements are a Snapdragon 865, 8 GB of RAM, and about 65 GB of free space.
According to project manager M0jso, the reason for the closure was Take-Two’s request to stop development. The developer itself did not publish a document with a legal notice, but in the team’s Telegram, the message was directly stated as “stop.” According to available information, these projects could use the GTA V source code, which was made public after a leak in 2023.
