In 2021, Hideo Kojima set off a wave of secret participation in the rumored mysterious horror film “Abandoned”, and unexpectedly appeared again in PlayStation Store. The game’s update notes now list a 2027 version, but developer Blue Box Game Studios remains tight-lipped on project details.
Abandoned has been announced as a realistic horror first-person shooter for PS5. However, the game quickly became the center of online conspiracy theories: some users believed it was behind Hideo Kojima’s new project in the Silent Hill or Metal Gear Solid universes. The theories have been fueled by a mysterious trailer and the name of the studio, which fans have linked to Death Stranding. Blue Box itself denies any association with Kojima Productions.
The promised interactive prologue version never launched, and the developers announced in 2022 that it would be delayed indefinitely. After a long period of silence, the project effectively disappeared from the public domain, and its pages and materials disappeared from digital stores multiple times.
Now that “Abandoned” has returned to the PS Store, it has once again attracted the attention of players, but it has not yet become a confirmation of full development.
