Paradox Interactive has confirmed that the Across the Pillars set for Europa Universalis V will be released on October 28, 2026. This add-on will be included in Europa Universalis V: Advanced Edition.
The series centers on a new historical situation, the Battle of the Channel: Castile, Granada and Morocco under the Marinids squabble over the legacy of Iberia’s Muslim rulers. These will include thematic decisions, council actions, interactions with powers, events and special operations. The winner will receive a golden age that will allow them to spread their influence far beyond the region.
What else is included in this set:
- Unique Journeys, Golden Caravans and Golden Convoys, available only to owners of this add-on;
- the new religious order of Iberian power;
- Redesigned scenario “Pyrenean Wedding”: you need to choose between a centralized monarchy and power based on a federation. New laws will help unify the Iberian throne;
- 12 new bureaucratic mechanisms based on the history of Spain and Portugal and a separate mechanism for North Africa;
- Historical events in Iberia and the Maghreb, including dynamics in Castile/Spain, Portugal, Aragon, Navarra, Morocco and Granada;
- Dozens of technological improvements were made by forces in these areas;
- New unit and ship models, portrait elements, illustrations of events and monuments;
- Six pieces of Castilian spirituality in Old Spanish and three songs of Moroccan spirituality.
At the same time, free update 1.4 Ria Salado will be released for the base version. This is the biggest update in the game’s first year. It will feature “expeditions” – character quests to distant lands. They would also transform the Catholic system: the religious order and the mechanisms governing cardinals would be redesigned. Additionally, dynasties will be finalized and deals will undergo major changes.
Remember, we’ve previously analyzed Paradox’s Europa Universalis V roadmap and written about how players can prepare for the first high-level DLC.
