Broadcom is strengthening its position in the AI chip market from two directions at the same time. According to recent publications, the company received NVIDIA-level memory purchase terms from Samsung and also agreed to provide up to $42 billion in financing to Anthropic for the construction of AI infrastructure.

Previously, NVIDIA had an advantage when purchasing Samsung memory due to its large order volume. Now things have changed: Broadcom’s sales have increased significantly and, according to sources, the Korean manufacturer has agreed to offer comparable prices. This is also an important point for Samsung – the high price of memory helps compensate for the problems of foundry production. At the same time, NVIDIA is working hard to keep profit margins at high levels: the company expects third-quarter profit margins to fall from 75% to 74%, and in the fourth quarter it expects profit margins to range from 71-72%.

This looks particularly interesting in the context of Broadcom and Anthropic’s partnership. It is expected that the laboratory may become the company’s largest customer in 2027, deploying 5 GW of TPUs, and deploy another 10 GW in 2028. Now Reuters reports that Broadcom has agreed to provide Anthropic with up to $42 billion to develop its AI infrastructure. The amount covers a significant portion of Anthropic’s estimated $125 billion in five-year lease commitments.

At the same time, Anthropic itself has admitted that there may be a conflict of interest: close financial ties to equipment suppliers may affect the company’s access to computing power. As a result, Broadcom not only gained a large customer but also gained a growing position in the memory supply chain – an area where Nvidia has long enjoyed a scale advantage.
