Li Junshi, former technical director of Lionheart Studio and one of the main developers of the MMORPG Odin: Valhalla Rising, has founded a new game company, J Dragon Games, which has begun developing its own MMORPG under a working name Project D. Today, October 2, 2026, the studio has raised seed investment from Crit Ventures and Main Street Ventures, venture funds associated with Com2uS. The amount of investment was not disclosed.
J Dragon Games studio was established in June 2026. In addition to Lee Joon Suk, the team also includes developers who have previously developed MMORPGs such as Lost Ark and Night Crow. As of August 2026, the total number of employees will be 15.
The studio’s first project will be Project D, a cross-platform MMORPG for PC and mobile devices. The project is being created on Unreal Engine 5, with development planned to be completed in 2028. After attracting investment, the company intends to expand its staff and accelerate the production of the game.
Project D is set in a medieval fantasy setting, with traditional races and creatures including humans, elves, dwarves, and dragons. One of the main features is a combat system with the ability to attack while moving. The developers are also promising a deep system for customizing your character’s combat skills using runes.
Another announced mechanic is taming monsters. Collected creatures can be used as pets and mounts. In addition, the game will also provide large-scale PvP battles, guild wars, and territory occupation modes.
Lee Joon Suk, CEO of J Dragon Games, said: “In Project D, we are committed to retaining MMORPG elements that users are familiar with while introducing new changes such as combat and skill systems. We intend to become a professional MMORPG development studio and regularly launch such high-game-quality projects.”
Im Young Mook, head of Crit Ventures, said: “J Dragon Games has brought together experts with experience in the development and operation of large-scale MMORPGs, and we expect that using Project D as a starting point, the company will be able to solidify its position in the global market.”
