According to reports, the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27 Plus and Galaxy S27 Pro will be equipped with Exynos 2700 chips, which is suitable for smartphones in the domestic and European markets. The US and Chinese versions of the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 microprocessor.
As for the Galaxy S27 Ultra, there is no confirmed news yet. Samsung’s System LSI division, which develops Exynos chips, is confident in the capabilities of the Exynos 2700 chip and is actively seeking to use it in its flagship S-series smartphones. This will help the unit increase revenue and also shows that the chip is sufficient for Ultra smartphones.
However, the final decision on the matter still rests with Samsung’s MX division, which produces smartphones. It currently takes into account a variety of factors, including baseline performance, energy efficiency, the cost of Qualcomm chips and the availability of manufacturing capacity to produce enough Exynos 2700 chips. Internal testing shows that the Exynos 2700 performs 9.5% better than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 in multi-core mode. However, Qualcomm chips still win in single-core mode.
The Exynos 2700 microprocessor is manufactured using Samsung’s advanced 2nm second-generation SF2P process technology and is based on the Gate-All-Around architecture. Compared with the first-generation SF2 process used to produce Exynos 2600, the new technology improves performance by 12%, reduces power consumption by 25%, and reduces chip area by 8%. In terms of architectural improvements, the Exynos 2700 may use the Arm C2 core, while the Exynos 2600 uses the Arm C1 core.
Obviously, it takes 3-4 months from the start of mass production of new chips to the completion of the final product. This means that Samsung may launch the new Galaxy S27 smartphone in February to March next year.
