PlatinumGames has provided some indication of the possibilities The future of the Bayonetta series and studio with nintendo switch 2but no possible Bayonetta 4 was announced. The speaker was CEO Atsushi Inaba, who joined Shift Up’s Kim Hyung Tae to discuss the collaboration between the two studios, which will bring some Bayonetta-inspired clothing to the Nintendo Switch 2 version when it launches in November.
In the interview, Famitsu asked Inaba if PlatinumGames was familiar with the difficulties Shift Up had in bringing Stellar Blade to Switch 2, optimizing it for portable and docked modes. The executive acknowledged that it’s a complicated process, but noted that the studio has yet to release a game for the new Nintendo console.
“It’s challenging. We haven’t released the game on Nintendo Switch 2 yet, but I think it has huge potential,” Inaba explained. The CEO said there were some difficulties in turning the idea into reality, but the Switch 2 still represents “hardware that can really expand the ways in which gamers have fun.”

The most interesting part of the interview, however, was about Bayonetta. Nearly 17 years after the series debuted, Kim Hyung-tae praised the protagonist’s design, defining it as still relevant and emphasizing that the game has not lost its freshness. Inaba jokingly discussed comparisons to Starblade protagonist Eve, then added: “E We must continue like this until Bayonetta 10”.
When asked if PlatinumGames had decided on Bayonetta’s next steps, Inaba avoided providing specific details. However, the executive hinted that the studio doesn’t believe the protagonist’s journey is over.
“As for Bayonetta, I strongly wanted to expand her into a character, Expand your world. Waiting to see exactly what form it takes,” he said. When asked if this meant waiting for a new game, Inaba simply replied, “No comment,” with laughter.
Bayonetta 4 hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s possible
As such, the CEO’s comments do not constitute a formal announcement for Bayonetta 4, but are the first major comments about the future of the series since PlatinumGames Hideki KamiyaThe creator of the protagonist left the studio at the end of 2023. Kamiya has expressed confidence that the series will continue, while PlatinumGames has so far remained silent on the matter.
A possible new chapter would naturally appear on Nintendo Switch 2, especially given the interest Inaba has shown in the new console, and the fact that the intellectual property exists in the first place thanks to Nintendo, which provided the funding for the third chapter, but there is currently no confirmation in this regard. Bayonetta’s next appearance will be in Sonic Racing: Crossover.
