A new batch of details about the upcoming blockbuster Grand Theft Auto 6 reveal the studio’s creative approach to creating the game’s world and main characters. In a recent article in fashion magazine Love, the developers shared interesting nuances: According to open world director James Horton, the streets of Leonidas will be filled with live dialogue, snippets of phrases, and ironic details, such as automated political phone calls.
Head of script department Rupert Humphreys emphasized that the team strived to make the world extremely exaggerated and grotesque, as simply transferring reality to the screen would lose all meaning.
The creators also paid special attention to the game’s core pairing – Jason and Lucia, who became the first mature female protagonists in the history of the series. The writers strive to present lively, flawed and vulnerable characters who are able to learn from their mistakes and change the dynamics of their relationships. At the same time, co-director Rob Nelson pointed out that developers are not afraid to sacrifice 100% realism as long as it is beneficial to gameplay and user comfort.
