French publisher Ubisoft has announced the impending closure of the free-to-play tactical shooter Rainbow Six Mobile. The project’s servers will be permanently shut down on January 15, 2027 – less than 11 months after the global launch. At the same time, the final season of the game starts as scheduled next week.

The project was first announced in 2022, went through a series of lengthy tests and reached a full global release on February 23, 2026 on mobile devices running iOS and Android. Despite millions of downloads at launch, the shooter was unable to retain its audience.
Gamers criticized Rainbow Six Mobile for being greatly simplified compared to the version of Siege for PC and consoles: the mobile version had a meager selection of operators, and team spawn points were set randomly. Another reason for dissatisfaction was the aggressive monetization system. The game artificially delayed the leveling process and required you to pay real money for access to key characters.
Due to the official suspension of Ubisoft’s activities in the Russian Federation, the mobile shooter was not released in the Russian segment of the App Store and Google Play digital stores.
It is worth noting that this is not the first attempt by Ubisoft to gain a foothold in the smartphone market that turned out to be a failure. The mobile offshoot of The Division Resurgence is currently experiencing similar problems: an abundance of software errors, monotony and poor support even after its recent release on PC.
