Analytics firm Sensor Tower has documented surprising trends in the pre-order market for the highly anticipated GTA 6. The vast majority of players (89%) will not choose the $80 basic version, but will choose the $100 ultimate version.
Publisher Take-Two’s management had previously announced a surge in demand for premium versions, but the current numbers surprised even professional analysts. The share of expensive games on Xbox and PlayStation platforms reached an all-time high of 90%, while the industry average rarely exceeds 20%. Experts attribute the success to the small difference in price and the presence of useful in-game rewards, including unique vehicles and access to a customization workshop.
Experts note that ahead of launch, the sales structure may shift to Standard Edition as it connects with a wider audience. However, total pre-order revenue has reached billions of dollars.
