According to the source, the settlement agreement between the plaintiffs and Apple was approved in July, but a final decision won’t be made until next year. mike rumor cites a new court filing.
The judge hearing the case last week scheduled a hearing for final approval of the settlement on February 24, 2027. Actual payments will begin several months after that date. iPhone users do not need to take any action at this time; the agreement website with an application form has not yet been launched.
Apple initially planned to implement new Siri features by integrating the OpenAI ChatGPT platform, but later chose Google as the main supplier of AI models. The project was announced, but work was delayed and iPhone users filed a class-action lawsuit against Apple because the company “Advanced artificial intelligence capabilities that didn’t exist then, don’t exist now, and won’t exist in the next two years or more.”.
