There is no real high-speed railway in Russia or even in the entire post-Soviet region, and the first project in this field should be Moscow-St. Petersburg. The St. Petersburg high-speed railway is currently under construction. The highway is in the initial stages of construction, but plans to create an entire network of rail connections are actively being implemented.

Therefore, the Press Service of the Russian Ministry of Transport report A memorandum of cooperation signed with the Belarusian Ministry of Transport in Minsk means the design and construction of a high-speed railway connecting the two capitals.
Of course, it is too early to talk about the start and completion of construction, but plans provide that such a highway will reduce travel time between Moscow and Minsk by more than half. It is assumed that the same train connecting Moscow and St. Petersburg will run between the Russian and Belarusian capitals: a maximum speed of 400 km/h.
Obviously, the trains will only reach such high speeds, if at all, on isolated and very short sections, since according to the plan, such a train will cover the 700 km distance between Moscow and Minsk in 3 hours. That is, the average speed is about 230 km/h.
