Open artificial intelligence propose A special version of ChatGPT for teenagers. The company said the new platform is designed to help teens learn, think critically, deepen their understanding and use artificial intelligence with confidence. It also offers strong protection against harmful content and has parental controls. All users between the ages of 13 and 17 are automatically directed to Teen ChatGPT.

This release builds on foundational work to support teens, including introducing parental controls, updating OpenAI model specifications for those under 18, developing a teen safety plan, introducing age predictions, and expanding functionality to support teen learning and healthy use of AI. Developers say the new services take the interests of the younger generation into full consideration.
OpenAI is committed to expanding educational access and supporting learning opportunities beyond the classroom. For example, teens preparing for a test can ask ChatGPT to explain an unfamiliar word, solve practice questions, and test their understanding.

ChatGPT for Teens includes:
- A learning model that uses guiding questions and step-by-step support to help young people understand the material;
- New homework reminders identify when teens are trying to simplify tasks and redirect them into learning mode for step-by-step collaborative problem solving;
- Tests and visualizations of educational materials used to practice, test knowledge and present complex problems more clearly to check understanding;
- Select the preset time to turn on learning mode.
The developers claim that they draw on years of research in the field of education and actively collaborate with teachers, scientists and experts in the field of pedagogy. The creator believes that the main task of ChatGPT in learning mode is to guide questions, support, cognitive skills and knowledge tests to help students gradually solve problems, not just get ready-made solutions.

For users under 18, ChatGPT provides age-appropriate protections designed to reduce exposure to potentially harmful or age-inappropriate content while maintaining the ability to learn, create, and explore. In practice, this means providing age-appropriate protections for models in high-risk areas such as self-harm, violence, dangerous activities, sexual content and more.
OpenAI is also developing parental monitoring tools. Parents with teens associated with their account can set quiet times, manage selected settings, and receive safety notifications.
ChatGPT for Teens is designed to support authentic relationships and healthy habits, providing break reminders that encourage teens to distract themselves and product prompts that continually identify ChatGPT as artificial intelligence. ChatGPT may not use romantic language, encourage emotional attachment, or imply feelings or consciousness.

OpenAI adds tips and controls designed to reduce situational risk and provide teens with helpful tools and protections, including:
- Reminder to upload sensitive images and warn you not to share personal or sensitive information;
- Become familiar with training and safety features;
- Settings that help make interaction with the system more personal without blurring the lines between useful tools and human connections.
OpenAI says these protections are supported by safety research based on developmental science, peer review, and testing of AI model protections in areas where youth may face unique or increased risk. The company promised to further improve its policy for users under the age of 18 to strengthen product protection.
