Danish company Atlant 3D launches Nanofabricator Pro – Installdesigned for the direct production and testing of materials proposed by artificial intelligence. Developers call it the world’s first physical platform for artificial intelligence material search. The system’s main task is to bridge the gap between computer modeling and experimentation: today, all artificial intelligence skills are hampered by the lengthy preparation of sample synthesis.

Developers say the Nanofabricator Pro device combines the stages of artificial intelligence development of materials with the production of samples, subsequent study and characterization of their properties, and prototyping of semiconductor devices.
“Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the process of discovering new materials. The next step is to turn these discoveries into real innovations.” – said Maxim Plahotniuc, CEO and co-founder of Atlant 3D, a scientific candidate in the field of nanotechnology and photovoltaics.
The device is based on Direct Atomic Layer Processing (DALP) technology developed by Altant 3D – localization of layer-by-layer atomic processing. Unlike conventional ALD, when chemical reactions occur at once over large or even entire areas of the substrate, in DALP, moving tiny microreactors limit the interaction area of the starting materials (precursors) to specific areas of the surface. As a result, the material can be applied directly to digital patterns, forming structures with thickness control at the level of individual atomic layers, without the need to use traditional photolithography to apply masks and remove excess material. The platform is compatible with more than 450 material families, and software controls let you specify material location, process parameters and operation sequences.
Of particular importance is the ability to perform multiple experiments on a single substrate. In traditional process chains, changes in composition, thickness or deposition method often require new wafers and separate processing cycles. The Nanofabricator Pro platform enables the native creation of different materials, layer combinations, structures and regions processed with different parameters on a single substrate. The resulting samples can be measured, their properties compared, the results can be fed back to an artificial intelligence algorithm, and the next series of experiments can be automatically generated based on them. Therefore, the device should become a physical link in the closed loop of “artificial intelligence-manufacturing-measurement-training-new experiments”, which is especially needed when developing new semiconductors, advanced chip packaging materials and quantum devices.
Atlant 3D sees the Nanofabricator Pro not as a replacement for modern serial semiconductor production, but primarily as a tool to accelerate the development of materials and technological processes and the subsequent transfer of discovered technological processes to industrial production. The installation is carried out in accordance with SEMI standards and the company organizes its industrial assembly in the United States together with Automated Industrial Robotics. The next phase, the developers say, will be the creation of virtually autonomous laboratories with integrated metrology and additional technology modules, in which artificial intelligence will not only be able to propose new materials, but also organize production, measure results and independently correct subsequent experiments.
