YouTube is prepared to pay authors of popular channels millions of dollars if they upload their content exclusively to the Google platform for a period of time and refuse to cooperate with rival services. The message states that YouTube offers different payment options. In addition to providing direct funding to content creators, the platform is also ready to offer them a share of large advertising deals. While no such deal has been signed to date, the platform is close to inking deals with several popular creators. It’s worth noting that content creators who strike deals with Netflix will face consequences. YouTube is less likely to attract people to a marketing campaign if a creator posts content on both platforms. YouTube will also exclude such creators from its plan to earn a portion of revenue from ad deals with major brands.
Netflix is looking to sign deals with popular bloggers to publish new content on both YouTube and Netflix. The company has paid dozens of content creators to do so and continues to negotiate with others. Partnering with Netflix is attractive to bloggers because it allows them to earn millions of dollars in additional revenue from the videos they post on YouTube and has the opportunity to reach new viewers. Netflix currently has over 325 million subscribers.
However, YouTube informed bloggers that posting content on both platforms would result in fewer views and give the impression that content creators no longer viewed the platform as their primary distribution channel. Some bloggers have refused to work with Netflix for reasons including that the service requires them to submit new videos days before publication, which doesn’t fit with many people’s typical work schedules. On top of that, Netflix insists that bloggers remove some sponsorship integrations from their titles.
