It was recently reported that Anthropic expects to raise more money than SpaceX during its IPO, surpassing the $85.7 billion mark. A Gallup poll found that only a quarter of U.S. citizens support establishing an artificial intelligence data center where they live. About 70% were opposed, and about half of them were extremely negative. Clearly, with this level of resistance, it would be impossible to build new data centers in all suitable locations across the United States. Energy infrastructure significantly increases data center construction budgets, and building data centers on “empty land” is much more expensive. All of these factors can significantly impact the cost of an AI infrastructure project.
