Gaijin Entertainment has announced the full release date for Active Matter. The shooter will be released on Steam, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on September 15, 2026. Players will discover an unstable multiverse where the usual laws of reality no longer operate.
Owners of earlier versions of Active Matter purchased from the Gaijin store will be able to transfer their versions to Steam for free. The two store versions will be allowed to be linked, so users will be able to choose a convenient platform to play on PC and save all accumulated progress. Early versions have been extensively tested, and feedback from early players has helped the developers refine the project before full release.
The game takes place in different versions of real-life locations on Earth, including a closed island in the Soviet Union, a quarantine zone in Central Africa, and an abandoned metropolis in North America. Players must fight monsters and explore spaces where gravity anomalies, strange objects, and other SCP-like phenomena occur. At the same time, the developers are relying on real-life filming, which should remain one of the few predictable elements of what’s going on.
In just a few days, Active Matter is getting a major update, with new locations inspired by collapsing American cities and new weapons. After release, the developers plan to release additional material regularly and gradually open up new areas of the multiverse. The standard version of the game will cost $29.99 or €29.99, depending on the region, with details on other versions to be announced closer to launch.
