Frictional Games has revealed new gameplay footage from its upcoming sci-fi game. The new game from the makers of SOMA is expected to make a splash in 2027.
Frictional Games was also present at Gamescom Opening Night Live tonight and showed off one of the most interesting indie games, Ontos, in a demo. Together with Kepler Interactive, they have revealed new gameplay footage for the sci-fi suspense thriller, which will be released in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
In Ontos, you take on the role of Aditi, who explores the converted moon hotel Samsara and encounters strange experiments and other disturbing scenarios. Each unique scenario will test your morale and invite you to engage in thoughtful exploration to determine possible outcomes.
In the new Gamescom trailer, Aditi discovers one of the experiments led by Crombie. He is, in turn, a scientist who enters reincarnation in search of answers to questions about the nature of one’s self. Crombie’s attempt to create an artificial mind apparently resulted in his mind being uploaded to a server run by a mass of interconnected rats. When the machine’s voice urges Aditi to reattach it to her body, the body itself reacts, disturbingly begging her to stop. You must examine your surroundings, look for hidden clues and decide how to proceed.
