Publisher KRAFTON and developer Boundary have announced that they are developing top-down action role-playing game TARAE: The Unbound via Steam for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC. A release date has not yet been announced.
The story of “TARAE: Unchained” takes place on Dagui Island, which was formed after the borders between six worlds were destroyed. An exile named Agasa breaks these boundaries in an attempt to break the cycle of reincarnation. Players search the shattered land for sources that can restore six worlds.
The story tells the story of six characters called “explorers”, each of whom came to Dagui Island for their own reasons. Players take on the role of a Seeker who forms an alliance with five other people. As the team searches for scattered sources, the game gradually reveals their personal stories and motivations.
The combat system involves fighting hordes of enemies using chain attacks and character skills. Boss battles focus more on identifying attack patterns, dodging, and timely counterattacks. Enemies and bosses are inspired by Eastern mythology and folklore.
Players can create different builds by combining class skills, traits, utility skills, and equipment. Classes include swords, firearms, martial arts, mystical abilities, and psychic powers, each using their own combat resources and skill systems. Character development and equipment also include the concepts of the five elements, yin and yang, karma, and reincarnation.
