Studio 314 Arts has announced NightRunner – a cooperative action game that combines PvE action, survival against hordes of mutants, and tower defense elements. It is expected to be released in 2027, and developers will conduct open testing in September 2026.
The main feature of the game is the constantly moving armored train. Squads of four will be able to disembark at stops, explore dangerous territory, collect resources and return to their squad with loot. Between raids, players will improve weapons and equipment, and strengthen their carriages. If one of the vehicles is destroyed, the game does not end immediately – the team must retreat to the next vehicle and continue to defend.
At the same time, NightRunner will retain the main principle of extraction games: failure means the loss of loot and the gear you brought with you. There are four classes to choose from – Engineer, Rogue, Field Expert and Termite, each with their own specialization and role within the team.
In addition to the main game, other modes will appear: transitional work with raids on armed ships, dungeons with linear levels and unique bosses, and an endless mode with endless waves of mutants. The developers cited Killing Floor, Call of Duty: Zombies, and Escape from Tarkov as sources of inspiration.
NightRunner will be released exclusively on PC (Steam).
