Microsoft has started changing the behavior of Windows 11 to let users get rid of one of the most annoying OneDrive notifications. The new version of Full Screen has a separate button that lets you forego backups entirely.
In the past, after starting the computer, users would often see prompts to back up files to OneDrive, but in fact the only way to delay the backup was to select the “Remind me in 3 days” option. A Decline Backup button now appears in the window; clicking this will remove the notification completely.
Granted, Microsoft is still trying to convince users to change their minds. After the selection fails, the system will provide “Skip” or “Backup Now” options. Meanwhile, Windows 11 does not require the use of OneDrive in any way, so PC users can choose any other cloud storage, including Google Drive and other services.
The change may seem small, but it will certainly come in handy for users who have been stuck with Microsoft’s duplicate products for years. The company is also continuing to optimize Windows 11, including for systems with 8 GB of RAM, and adding new features such as remotely shutting down and restarting PCs through Phone Link.
