Apple has added three Mac laptop models to its obsolete product list. New additions to the list include the 2018 MacBook Air Retina, the 2018 13-inch MacBook Pro with four Thunderbolt 3 ports, and the 2017 13-inch MacBook Pro with two Thunderbolt 3 ports.

Previously, all three products were included in the obsolete equipment list. Apple has added a new product to its lineup five years after its last release. Products are considered obsolete after seven years. Older devices can still be repaired at Apple retail stores and Apple Authorized Service Centers, as long as the company has the required parts. Devices deemed obsolete are often beyond repair and Apple will stop making repair parts for them.
For older products, the company has only been offering batteries for 10 years, so owners of the 2017/2018 MacBook Pro and 2018 MacBook Air can still replace their batteries.
The 2018 MacBook Air is the first in the Air series to feature Touch ID and Retina display. Previous MacBook Air models had non-Retina displays with much lower resolution and less vivid colors. The 2018 model also offers significant design changes, with thinner bezels and a lighter body.
The 2017 MacBook Pro uses Intel Kaby Lake processors. This is a less important update, mostly related to the processor and some other minor changes. The updated version of the 2018 MacBook Pro introduced support for the display’s True Tone technology for the first time, as well as a third-generation keyboard with butterfly keys.
