Insomniac Games also achieved a constant 60 fps (including ray tracing) on the regular PS5. Far from technical specs, the game’s full disc release has now been reconfirmed.
As we get closer to the release date of Marvel’s Wolverine on September 15, 2026, more and more details are being disclosed in advance. Now, Mike Fitzgerald, technical director at Insomniac Games, has commented on the technical specifications and confirmed one of the novelties of the development studio.
Fitzgerald confirmed that Marvel’s Wolverine will hit the 60 fps target (including ray tracing) preset on the regular PlayStation 5, without a PS5 Pro being required for that.
“We’ve always had these graphics and performance modes, and then somehow at the last minute a performance mode with ray tracing came along – and we thought, ‘Wait a minute, this looks really good…’ So with this game, we said from the beginning: ‘You know what? We’re sure we can do this. The game will run at 60 frames per second with ray tracing – just like on the PS5.
At the same time, the developers are also focusing on destructible environments, as Logan is a truly destructive character, which makes this feature even more important.
Elsewhere, senior project director Jess Reiner-Reed reconfirmed that a full disc version of Marvel’s Wolverine will be released, given Sony’s plans to phase out discs in 2028. What’s important in this context is this: the entire game is actually playable directly from the disc. It is recommended that players who purchase the physical version also download and install the first-day patch to enjoy a smoother gaming experience.
