The first part will be released in October and the second part is planned for December. The choice to divide the update has to do with the amount of content the studio intends to introduce into the game with the celebration in mind. Gran Turismo 30th Anniversarywhich will happen in 2027.
The initiative is sponsored by Kazunori YamauchiSpec IV will also kick off the festivities with the community, explains Polyphony Digital president and creator of the series. “Ahead of the 30th anniversary of the original release of Gran Turismo in 2027, we are preparing a free Spec IV update for Gran Turismo 7 to celebrate with our players,” Yamauchi said.
Among the new features that have been confirmed are two circuits. The first one will be stadium messengerin Japan it will appear in the game with the October update. The course features multiple elevation changes, a flowing layout and the famous Dunlop Bridge.
December will come autumn ringone of the tracks most closely associated with the series’ history. The track made its debut in the original Gran Turismo, so it will return in Gran Turismo 7 after a few years of absence. “I’m excited to bring this track back with Gran Turismo 7 when it releases in December and let millions of players experience it for the first time,” commented Yamauchi.
On the automotive front, overall expectations 12 new cars distributed between two updates. Polyphony Digital has not revealed which models will be selected, so it has postponed its demonstration to a later date.
Spec IV will also be introduced New ways to face competition. These include Online Drift Trials, which is dedicated to drift competition and a driver’s ability to manage control, precision and style, and Shuffle Races, which will present randomized conditions in online races and force participants to adapt to the strategies and methods of the competition.
Full information on both parts of Specification IV will be communicated during the meeting Round 3 of the Gran Turismo World Series takes place in Singaporescheduled for October 3. At that time, Polyphony Digital will reveal more details about the cars, tracks, modes and features coming in the October and December updates.
