The Rigueira brothers were philosophizing a few years ago that summer is coming to an end, but that means one thing first and foremost: video games are back in the spotlight and this season promises to make a real splash. By giving up the sea, the mountains and the desire to socialize, we are first interested in one thing: What will you play this weekend?
In early September, the video game market restarted with a bang Big announcements this week: On the other hand, as we’ve seen with GTA 6 set to release in November, publishers and developers are racing to keep as much distance as possible from Rockstar Games’ Leviathan, resulting in a focus on releases between September, October and early 2027.

We can already observe the first results of these days, since this week there are already at least two games available that aim very high in terms of sales and popularity and are ideal candidates for this weekend.

There have been at least three major releases this week alone

let us start with Blood of the Dawn TreaderProbably one of the most talked about games: Rebel Wolves’ new open-world role-playing game partially inherits the legacy of The Witcher 3, which the team’s founder worked on, but creates something completely different.

As we can see from the excellent ratings it has collected, the game is highly appreciated for its ability to build interesting worlds and engaging stories, where the player’s different choices have significant effects.

Another possible way to invest this weekend in early September is Onimusha: KendoIt represents the return of the long-standing Capcom series after several years and opens a new chapter.

The game recalls the structure of the classic, but also makes important evolutions on a technical level and in terms of gameplay mechanics, with the result being enjoyable for both long-time fans and new users alike: you can learn more about it in our review of Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

Across the range of releases this week, the third leading candidate could be tracka new cooperative action-adventure game for Nintendo Switch 2 from Shapefarm and Kepler Interactive.

Some of the writers come from the Hazelight team, and this question is easily deduced from the concept on which the game is based: it is a game focused on two-person cooperative multiplayer, where the two protagonists, Maki and Omura, find themselves involved in different situations on a cooperative basis, but both represent a truly charming 80s anime style, which you can learn more about in our dedicated review.

In addition to these games, there’s obviously the Our Inseparable Friends backlog to consider, and it’s hard to get bored: just looking back over the past few days, it might have been further expanded with Metal Gear Solid: Solid Collection Volume 2, Star Wars: Zero Company and Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, so there’s certainly no shortage of options.
