Deadly Shell 2 gets experimental adaptive difficulty and tons of fixes

The developers of Mortal Shell 2 have released an update and added an experimental adaptive difficulty system. It analyzes player successes and failures and gradually changes the characteristics of opponents. Patches affect the combat system, projectiles, bosses, interface and performance.

If the player confidently wins and stays alive for a long time, the enemy will gain extra health, damage, and break resistance. Moreover, they can be enhanced beyond the maximum the game initially offers. If you fail too often, the opposite happens: your opponent becomes weaker, and a single attack can’t take out as much health at once. The system is preset to be disabled and cannot operate in night mode, which only makes it more complicated. The developers have also expanded the window for consecutive blocks of Infinite Seals and allowed conditions to be imposed on enemies when they rise after suffering a retaliatory strike.

In addition, the logic of Return to Lost Darkness has been improved, Sariel and Ginissa’s abilities have been adjusted, the behavior of summoned Grishas has been changed, and many boss and enemy-related issues have been fixed. The patch also fixes bugs that could cause players to get stuck in geometry, unable to perform NG+ missions, or encounter invincible enemies.

Special attention is paid to interface, sound, lighting and optimization. Damage is now displayed up to 9999, small lights have their own icons, and some effects and scenes have become more stable. On PS5, the system window no longer pauses the game, allowing you to use the screenshot function.
